and I do think single+all star+team is a bit too much EFZ

so it will be Single, then top 4 score can go all star against Texas

Idea:

Since the head count is 14 people already, I think that a big Round Robin is just crazy.

So what about doing it Japanese style with mini Round Robins? With groups of four where one or two people qualify to the final round robin(s). That would allow for smaller groups playing simulateously, saving time. A four-person round robin is what, six matchups?

We can do the same for team tourney.

The all-star thing is not going to last that much, unless you are planning to do it Round-Robin too instead of team-based (and btw, Round Robin would put TX at a big disadvantage). So if we save some time in singles, I think we can do all tourneys.

idea reject

1) the point of the big round robin is to let everyone play everyone so there will be no shit talking afterward of unfair bracket (on purpose or by bad luck). if your friend or anyone think they are not going to be good enough to join the single, then it would be good if they dont. But no matter what, it will be big round robin. Japanese dont talk shit, unfortunely some of us do.

2) the all star thing will be KOF style so if you are good enough, you can beat us all by yourself.

3) dont forget we will have MBR tournument also, i'm sure people will be tired after the EFZ tournument already.

If people want to do team tournument after and have enough people then we will do it, or else it would be put in the may-be section

Since we still dont know how many more people going to join
if it's 13~14 or more, i will do Single Elismate b/w 2 people, then the 7+ people will do the final round robin of doom

7 matches of SE + 2~3 matches for those 42 match up don't sound so bad as 2~3 matches for 13X13 of the orginial.
and this way we can get rid of free pointer =p

That might change because of Evo's MBR tournament. People will have scheduled conflicts and your tournament has been advertised to people outside of us.

I am pretty sure it will change. Rai, LK, Lina and I were talking about it yesterday for a long while.

Not sure what will be the final format, but right now I know that there will be qualifying pools and a final 7-man round robin.

well i ask most of the people in CA and they dont have a problem with Single Elimination or dont care. So I dont see what is the point change it again.
after you Vman leave yesterday lina want to be 1 match and LK want to be 2/3. So still dead lock. and you seems to forget time consideration.
For 14 people:
SE only takes 21 game MAX even with 2/3 and the "vman" idea takes 20 + 20 + 12 games even if it's "1 match"
If you still want your Alice game or team tournument if possible i still think SE is the best way. yeah i could stay long as 11~12 but i'm pretty sure i want to go home early if possible

the rest of the player enter random for those number, that way Vman you get you "RANDOM FACTOR" for lower player and top player/texas player avoid meeting up each other soon. if we end up with more play we will just put 3 ppl in a bracket and keep adding them up etc
This if the last step back I make, take it or we go back to Big round robin, which is the fairest way.

I've been talking to Chris Lin (V.P., Hendane! Inc.) and I got the following email:

I talked to the boss man and organizing an event will be fine. The only drawback might be that certain fighters we might not be able to stock (namely Meltyblood which has disappeared from store shelves in anticipation of a possible arcade to console release of the new version) so that might a bit of a disappointment. I plan to have two gaming stations at our booth [Hendane! Inc.]. One for fighters and the other for other games and demos.

The booth will be in the same place as it was last year [near the back]. How would you like this to be handled? If there is enough people, we could possibly hold a tournament of some sorts with some prizes and stuff. This of course pending crowd control and people not being stupid.

So if you guys want, we can probably do part of the tournament over at their booth if we need another location. I think it would be great since so many people go through the dealer's room. Any comments on this?
