This is a repost from the Lycee forum, since Zaido recommended that I posted here instead.
Caesar (Evil Exile), me (Terry), and Paul, have decided to plan a big tournament at Frank & Sons to promote Lycee to more people. Anyone is welcome. I've been talking to a few people and the most probable date will be May 24th. It is a Saturday. I want to hear everyone's opinion on the schedule. I also want Debbyluv to help this tournament as well. The entry for the tournament will be 10 dollars, and the prize will be lycee boosters depending on how many people will join. Basically every person will pay for 2 booster packs as an entry. I'm hoping that at least 10 people can come. Currently I count: Myself, Caesar, Paul, Ian, Allen, Hijiri, John (Linalys), Leftball, Raven, Debbyluv, Zaido, and Rightot. I am hoping that this can create some friendly competition as well as introducing this game to more people. I'd like to hear everyone's input on this. And for people I didn't name who's into Lycee, if you live in California please post on this forum as well.

May 24th: 10 AM - Whenever we want to end yes, at the Magic Gathering area, it's actually called the Yugioh Area now, Magic is outclassed by Yugioh now.

But I do hope that you would participate in the tournament. There will be 2-3 bracket divisions.
Advance, (Intermediate), Beginner.
Each bracket will fight each other until there is one left, and when that happens, the Intermediate challenges the beginner, and the winner between the two will fight the winner to the Advance bracket.

Waiting to hear more exact details since this sounds pretty complicated. I'm not sure how good the 24th weekend is for me, since I might be having my birthday that weekend. Plus I'm not sure how many people are going to this, so far it just sounds like Raven. I'd need to hear about more people and preferably Debbyluv too.

Paul posted this on the other forum. So I'll post what he said here too:
Allen (Akiba) walked away with first place (and the holo command mantra event card) after defeating Ceaser in a rather epic one on one at arcade infinity. Decks of paying players looked like the following:
Allen - Flower - had some lightning in it too. Ceaser - Lightning - Mai and Tomoyo at the helm. Terry - Sun - built for speed with the 7/5 aggressive double conversion and desperation alcohol to round it out. Myself - Moon/Lightning - my mion/shion control deck. Kiritsuku and assassin at the helm. Ian - Flower/Lightning - highly defensive deck built around untapping characters for offense Elric - Moon/Lightning - standard issue starter control deck
I noticed there was a very conspicuous lack of snow at this tourny. If we do this again i'm definately gonna dance around the idea of a moon/snow deck like when I started but now I have a deeper library of cards for both elements to fool around with.
Since the final pot was lower than originally expected (we were hoping for at least 7 paying players) and adding a last minute screw up, we decided to just cash out first and second place instead of going with the original idea of boosters. The vendor who was going to sell us the boosters can't be too angry, we still bought random boosters before the event. Although a heartbreak moment occured when I accurately predicted 2 out of the 4 rares Ceaser got with his Nitro+ starter box to be the same 2 crap rares he already has like 7 copies of. I think due to the sheer number of rares in the Nitro+ set, I've had very bad experiences with those starter boxes.
Turn out was low as expected but I think the real goal of the tourny was to expose more people to Lycee and by accomplishing that goal, it made our tournament a success. Not "epic win" but "acceptable win." Elric now seems like he wants to build his own deck instead of the premade one we gave him, there was that other japanese guy (forgot his name >_<) who sounds like he wanted to start playing too, a random dude in the middle of the day (Kenny, I think his name was) that knew about lycee and sounded interested in joining in, and Hijiri sounds like he wants to get back into the fold. Out of the 5 core members of our SoCal community (Allen, Ceaser, Terry,Ian and myself) adding another 4 regulars is potentially doubling our numbers. Not bad for one tournament.
The tournament was pretty unorginized since we started late but we made the most of it. It was our first tournament so we were still learning how to orginize. My head was throbbing by the end continously trying to figure out the brackets as we went. Frank and Sons closed in the middle of the tourny so we relocated to Arcade Infinity nearby. Next time we're definately starting at 10/11am as we planned or just hold the tournament somewhere else altogether.
Before the tourny even started we were talking about having another before summer ends and I think since things went quite well the only thing in our way is finding a good day to hold it so we have enough time to A) get more promos to put up for a prize and B) let the new players order and put together a comprehensible deck and C) give us time to update our own decks. I think if the new players join we can potentially double our numbers next tourny and have a much more impressive spread of decks. There's the core 5, Hijiri is tempted to start up again and I think I can easily help him (he has all the old moon stuff, I have all the new moon stuff), Elric sounds like he finally wants to order his own deck (Terry, did he ever give a preference to which element? I think he was hovering around Sun), the other Japanese guy sounded like he wanted in as well (again, element preference?), another potential player on the horizon, I think Terry said there was another person interested that didn't come to this tourny (or am I wrong?) and somehow blugeon one or two of the other SoCal residents that play Lycee into throwing their hat in the ring. Again, we were successful in the aspect of exposing new players to the game, this next tournament lets be successful for a great show out with epic battles.
